Iraqi Business Council Cultural Program (Ibdaa) Hosts the Signing Ceremony of Haitham Burda’s Full Works (Novella)

IBC Cultural Program (Ibdaa) hosted on Saturday February 2nd 2019 on Orfali Hall – Umm Utheina the signing ceremony of the Iraqi novelist Haitham Burda’s (Novella).

At the beginning of the ceremony writer Yarub Al-Salim presented a review on the writer and his literary works, after which novelist Haitham Burda talked about the novella, its structure, composition, characteristics, origin, history and what distinguishes it from the ordinary novel.

He pointed out names of the most prominent novelists who were known for writing the novella from its beginning until the present times and through the six centuries and so of its birth which gave them great fame, elaborating that one of the main reasons for awarding the Nobel Prize for Peace to prominent American novelist Ernest Hemmingway was his timeless short novel “The Old Man And The Sea”.

Writer Burda also talked about his experience of Novella writing through his novels “Room 213”, “Bodies and Their Shadows” and “The Spectrum” which included his full works.

Writer Burda concluded the ceremony by thanking IBC for sponsoring his “Novella”, and signed his book for the audience.

On IBC side, the ceremony was attended by IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, a number of the Cultural Committee members, writers, academics, satellite television channels, media, IBC CEO and staff.
