Economic Event: IBC Chairman & Members Congratulate HE Mr. Haider Al-Athari On the Occasion of Taking Up His Post as Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Jordan

During their visit to the premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Jordan that took place on Tuesday November 26th 2019, IBC Chairman and members congratulated Mr. Haider Al-Athari on the occasion of taking up his post as Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Jordan.

During the meeting, Dr. Majid Saedi talked about the volume of Iraqi investments in Jordan which exceeded (14) billion US Dollars and reviewed the economic achievements realized by IBC and the close cooperation with the official authorities in Jordan and the meetings that take place periodically with the Jordanian Prime Ministry and the economic team to solve the problems concerning Iraqi investors and address any obstacles that face their investments in the Kingdom.

Dr. Saedi also stressed the need to find solutions to the problems of the youth in Iraq, find work opportunities and eliminate corruption, asking God Almighty to bless Iraq with peace and security.

For his part, the Iraqi Ambassador Mr. Al-Athari welcomed IBC Chairman and members, stressing that the Iraqi Embassy stands as a home for all Iraqis, supporting and encouraging the Iraqi private sector in Jordan, which sector enjoys diverse experiences and great potentials.

The Ambassador also talked about his directives given to the Iraqi Embassy staff as to overcome any obstacles relating to completing the transactions of members of the Iraqi community in the Embassy.

During the meeting, the Iraqi Ambassador stressed the importance of supporting and encouraging the private sector, especially that the Iraqi government is keen on providing investment opportunities in various parts of the country and proceeding to reconstruct the liberated areas in Iraq, clarifying that this would provide work opportunities for the unemployed and contribute to realizing stability and urban development.

His Excellency pointed out that the Embassy will work in cooperation with members of the Iraqi community in the Kingdom including Iraqi businessmen, intellectuals and academics, in such a way that serves the interests of Iraq and members of the community in Jordan and contribute to strengthening bilateral relations with Jordan.
Mr. Saad Naji lauded the performance of the Consular Section in the Embassy and the continuous facilities granted that concern IBC members.

Mr. Naji also talked about the problem of failure to pay tuition fees by Iraqi students of vulnerable families in the Jordanian schools and the problem of rectifying the situations of Iraqis living in Jordan without legal status.
IBC Board members; Mr. Ali Ghalib Al-Khafaji and Mr. Khalil Al-Bunniya expressed readiness of IBC members to provide all means to support the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Jordan and collaborate continuously to serve our beloved country, Iraq.

Iraqi Business Council (Ibdaa) Cultural Program Hosts the Book Signing Ceremony of “Al-Akheeth” (The Prisoner) For Journalist Muhammad Al-Sayyed Muhsin

As part of IBC (Ibdaa) Cultural Program, IBC hosted on Saturday November 16th, 2019 at IBC Hall/1st floor, the book signing ceremony of “Al-Akheeth” (The Prisoner) for Journalist Muhammad Al-Sayyed Muhsin.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the author Muhammad Al-Sayyed Muhsin talked about the harsh conditions he had lived for five years and seven months as a prisoner of war during the Iraqi – Iranian war which ended in August 8th, 1988.

The book is a biography of the author and a historical documentation of a stage almost forgotten as a result of major transformations in Iraq after 2003.
Muhammad Al-Sayyed Muhsin wrote “Al-Akheeth” (The Prisoner) depicting the journey of pain and suffering from Iraq towards the prisons of captivity in the Iranian capital Teheran, and explained in simple words how the Iraqi prisoners lived in the Iranian prisons, which was the content of the first chapter of the book.

In the second chapter he included two types of tales from the captivity prisons : narration of some events such as tales of the captivity baths.. tales of the insane prisoners in captivity, while the second part included tales with titles, heroes of which, as the writer documented, about men he described as “simple people, yet they were the heroes of those tales, so that I could tell everyone that history would not ignore or skip anything even concerning the simplest men and events”.
The author’s introduction was realistic and served as a biography of pain.. and a talk about the untold.
The ceremony was attended by a crowd of Iraqis and artists, and the famous Iraqi singer Sadoun Jabir had a special presence.
On IBC side, the ceremony was attended by IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi, IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, IBC members; Mr. Turkey Al-Qaisi, who in turn presented the author Muhammad Muhsin with a gift (the map of Iraq), Mr. Muhammad Al-Baldawi, in addition to a large number of IBC Cultural Committee members, journalists, satellite TV channels, IBC CEO and staff.

Economic Event: IBC Chairman & Members Participate in Jordan Projects & Iraq Reconstruction Forum

IBC Chairman Mr. Ahmad Al-Sarraf and a number of IBC members; Mr. Turkey Al-Qaisi, Mr. Dargham Al-Jarrah and IBC Director General participated on Wednesday November 6th 2019 in the “Jordan Projects & Iraq Reconstruction Forum 2019” organized by Korea Trade Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in cooperation with the Korean (Kospo) Corporation held at Jordan Four Seasons Hotel.

Fifteen South Korean companies specialized in the Engineering, Construction and Equipment fields participated in the Forum, in addition to companies specialized in Energy, Electricity, Water Purification and Infrastructure sectors such as SOOSAN Heavy Industries, HYOSUNG Heavy Industries and POSCO International companies.

On the official side, six Iraqi ministries participated in the Forum including the Ministries of Electricity, Transport, Construction & Housing and Water and the General Oil Company where they talked about several projects to be implemented in the Republic of Iraq such as Energy, Water, Oil & Gas, in addition to Jordan Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources (MEMR) and the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO). During the Forum, representatives of the government side reviewed a number of projects in the Energy and Oil & Gas sectors and the cooperating between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Iraq in these sectors.

Also, a number of IBC member companies in Jordan and Iraqi companies who specially visited Jordan upon an invitation extended by KOTRA Amman in coordination with Baghdad Branch (KOTRA Baghdad), in addition to Jordanian companies involved in construction and infrastructure and reconstruction of Iraq projects.

The Korean Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Lee Ji Wan attended activities of the Forum, and urged the Korean companies, in his welcome speech, to enter the business market in Iraq and Jordan.

He also listened to experts and officials of the Iraqi and Jordanian governments discussing issues on infrastructure and electric energy.

During the Forum, business meetings were organized between the Korean companies and their Iraqi and Jordanian counterparts.
