IBC & Eastern Holding Group Host Tamayuz Architecture Award

IBC and Eastern Holdings Group hosted on Saturday December 3rd, 2016 at the Grand Millennium Hotel – Amman Tamayuz Architecture Award for 2016 with the presence of the President of the Jordanian House of Representatives Dr. Atif Al-Tarawneh and the Iraqi Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Issa who accepted the invitation extended by IBC.

The ceremony included opening of the photo gallery of the prominent Iraqi architect Dr. Rifat Chaderchi titled (Baghdad in the Eyes of Rifat) that included a number of photos from Dr. Chaderchi’s archive, copy of which he deposited at Tamayuz Award and privileged IBC with the archive to be included in the honorary exhibition which would be held next Saturday on the occasion of Dr. Chaderchi’s 90th birthday.

The ceremony was opened by IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi who praised Tamayuz Architecture Award, lauding the Award’s significance in honoring academic architectural creativity and thanked Tamayuz Award founder Architect Ahmed Al-Mallak, stressing that IBC would always pursuits its role in supporting the academic activities.

IBC presented the Iraqi Minister of Higher Education Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al-Issa with IBC Honorary Shield for his role in academic support, and presented Tamayuz Award founder Architect Ahmed Al-Mallak with an Honorary Shield for his efforts in delivering the voice of intellectual Iraq to the whole world. For his part, the Iraqi Minister praised IBC efforts and its unlimited support extended to the Iraqi community.

IBC also honored IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi and IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji with the Higher Education Medal, in addition to honoring the winning students and supervisors of Iraqi and International Tamayuz Award.
During the ceremony, awards were granted as follows;
– Tamayuz Award for lifetime Architectural Achievement of Iraqi Architecture was granted to Dr. Qahtan Al-Madfaie,
– Muhammad Mekkiya’s Architecture Personality of the Year Award for Academic Architecture was granted to Dr. Khalid Al-Sultani,
– Tamayuz Award for Women for 2014 and 2015 was granted to Architect Sherine Sherzad and Engineer Suhair Al-Sanawi,
– Tamayuz Award to Iraqi students, and
– Tamayuz International Award,
The Dean of the College of Engineering in the University of Jordan was awarded with 2016 Tamayuz Award for the best University of Architecture. Also, the Dean of the College of Engineering of the Iraqi Al-Nahrein University was awarded for the best Architectural Department in Iraq, in addition to honoring students from Iraq, Jordan, Greece, Spain, Russia, Romania and India.
It is worth mentioning that the ceremony was attended by architects, College Presidents and Deans of Arab and foreign universities such as; the former President of the Royal Institute for British Architects, Head of the Energy, Building & Environment School, the Dean of the College of Engineering in Coventry University, Head of the Architectural Centre in Kazan University / Russia and Deans of the Colleges of Engineering; National School of Engineering in Rabat / Morocco, the American and Lebanese Colleges of Engineering in Beirut, Birmingham and Jordanian Universities.
On IBC side, the event was attended by IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi, IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, in addition to a number of IBC Board members and members; Mr. Mekki Al-Faiz, Mr. Usama Al-Quraishi, Mrs. Wasan Al-Khafaji, IBC member and Advisor for Social Responsibility and Representative of the UN Global Pact for Local Networking in Iraq Dr. Amila Naji, Engineer Uns Al-Shebib Baban, Mr. Faris Kamal, Dr. Muhammed Al-Beldawi, IBC CEO, staff, in addition to a crowd of journalists and Satellite TV Channels.
