IBC Holds Welcoming Ceremony for the New Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiyah Al-Siheil

IBC hosted on Sunday February 29th 2016 at Amman Grand Millennium Hotel a welcoming ceremony in honor of the new Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiyah Al-Siheil on the occasion of assuming her post as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. At the beginning of the ceremony, IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Sadi delivered a speech welcoming the Iraqi Ambassador,

the present officials and guests lauding the support extended to the Iraqi community by the Jordanian Government under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein concerning facilitating issues relating to residence permits and Iraqi investments in the Kingdom.

Dr. Sadi elaborated on the role of IBC in consolidating the historic ties and relations between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Iraq through promoting and maximizing investments in Jordan since Jordan represents a gate that is close to Iraq’s economy geographically and logistically.

He also lauded the distinguished relations and close collaboration between IBC, Arab and foreign Embassies and the Commercial Attaches of those Embassies in Jordan.

Dr. Sadi shed light on IBC efforts in the past years to promote the Strategic Project between Jordan and Iraq (the Pipeline between Basra and Aqaba) and IBC collaboration with the Iraqi Oil Ministry to reach an agreement to commence this colossal Project.

On her part, Ambassador Al-Siheil extended in her speech thanks and gratitude to IBC for holding the welcoming ceremony and lauded IBC efforts to place the Iraqi investor in the rank of top investors in the Kingdom through its successful activities represented by the conclusion of Memoranda of Understanding and economic cooperation between the Trade and Industry Associations whether on the level of Jordan or other countries that flow in the interest of the Iraqi investor.

Ambassador Al-Siheil further thanked IBC members, the Iraqi businessmen and investors for assisting their fellow Iraqis, who circumstances dictated their being in a position requiring their unity and assistance until they return to their areas after liberation.

Ambassador Al-Siheil spoke of her desire to develop the economic and trade relations with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the relevant Ministries and institutions and the expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries and in particular the economic and trade relations through facilitating the current business procedures for businessmen and Iraqi companies in the Kingdom, holding meetings and talks with Jordanian and Iraqi officials to serve companies and investors.

The Ambassador extended her utmost thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein, the Jordanian Government and people for their support extended to Iraq and all segments of Iraqis and sincerely wished that Jordan enjoys the blessing of safety and security.

The event was attended by the Head of the Supreme Judicial Council Mr. Hisham Tal and his wife, MP Dr. Amal Al-Farhan, Minister of Transport and Telecommunications Mr. Aymen Hatahit, Deputy Basil Alawneh, wife of the late Sheikh Talib Al-Siheil, Zain Telecommunications Company CEO Mr. Ahmed Al-Hanahdeh and his wife and Zain Company staff.

On IBC side, the event was attended by IBC Chairman and Board members and their wives, a large number of IBC members, tribal sheikhs and notables, a crowd of Iraqi academics, intellectuals and members of the Iraqi community in Jordan, journalists, Satellite TV channels and IBC CEO and staff.

 

IBC Hosts an Exhibition & Auction of Eastern Antiques & Exquisite Items From the Collection of Iraqi Expert Engineer Muhammad Al-Baghdadi

Over three days, from February 18th to 20th 2016, IBC hosted on IBC Hall an exhibition and auction for Eastern antiques and exquisite items from the collection of the Iraqi expert Engineer Muhammad Al-Baghdadi.

 The exhibition included silver, glass and porcelain antiques, carpets, beads strings, old and modern jewelry and miscellaneous exquisite items.

The auction was opened on Saturday evening with the presence of IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Sadi, IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary-General Mr. Saad Naji, IBC Board member Mr. Turkey Al-Qaissi and IBC member Dr. Ahmed Al-Jubouri.

The auction opening marked the presence of a large number of experts, antiques collectors and members of the Jordanian community.

The visitors viewed the items in exhibit and listened to the Iraqi expert Engineer Muhammad Al-Baghdadi while he delivered a presentation on the exhibited items reviewing the historic and artistic value of the exhibits.

 

The idea of establishing the Iraqi Business Council is based on the common desire generated by a number of elites. Those who are Iraqi investors and businessmen on the territory of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan unanimous in the importance of creating economic reference for them, as well as for those who wish to join them in order to maximize Iraq’s investment in Jordan, as well as to contribute actively to Iraq’s construction and reconstruction.

The one who carried out the mission of founding is an elite of Iraqi businessmen of recognized competence and abilities. and since the Council’s inception in late 2006, members have worked towards efforts to support Iraqi investments in Jordan. as well as coordination and cooperation with official entities, to find solutions and proposals to overcome obstacles and constraints facing investors s economic, investment and trade cooperation between Jordan and Iraq.

 

IBC Hosts a Breakfast for IBC Members & Guests

Within the activities of IBC Social Program, IBC hosted on Thursday February 18th 2016 at Amman Grand Millennium Hotel – Dragon Restaurant a breakfast for IBC ladies and their guests with the presence of the new Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Siheil.

 The event included IBC CEO welcome speech and two fashions show of Sana House for genuine furs and Al-Nashmiyah House for contemporary eastern fashions.

The event was attended by Sharifa Budour Bint Abdul Ilah, the Comeercial Attache Mrs. Intesar Ali Jafar and Dr. Ghada Al-Baldawi of the Iraqi Health Center.

From IBC side, the event was attended by a number of IBC ladies including wives of IBC Chairman and members, IBC Board member Mrs. Wasan Al-Khafaji, IBC member Mrs. Widad Al-Saffar, in addition to IBC CEO and staff.

Italy’s Trade Envoy for Trade Promotion Department in the Italian Embassy Mr. Alessio Pisani Visit to IBC

In accordance with the request of the Italian Embassy in Amman, the Envoy of the Italian Trade of Trade Promotion Department in the Italian Embassy in Amman Mr. Alession Pisani visited on Monday February 15th 2016 IBC and was received by IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Sadi and IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary-General Mr. Saad Naji.

During the meeting means of cooperation in the fields of economy and exchanging investment opportunities between the Italian companies and IBC companies were discussed.

Dr. Sadi spoke of the investment opportunities and projects available in Iraq presenting the investment environment in Iraq and the cooperation mechanism of foreign companies interested in entering the Iraqi market.

On his part, Mr. Pisani requested cooperation with IBC as to the organization of an Italian trade delegation to visit the Iraqi Kerbala, Najaf and Basra Provinces, and agreement was reached to organize a delegation comprising of IBC members and their Italian counterparts to visit Iraq and a list covering names of the Italian companies interested in establishing trade partnerships with IBC member companies to be provided to IBC.

The meeting was attended by the Italian Embassy Economic Analyst Mr. Nawras Nidhal and IBC CEO.

Visit of IBC Delegation to the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Siheil

IBC delegation visited on Sunday February 1st 2016 the new Iraqi Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Siheil at the Iraqi Embassy Headquarters in Amman.

The delegation included IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Sadi, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General Mr. Saad Naji, Vice Chairman and Board member Mr. Turkey Al-Qaisi and a number of Board members; Mr. Usama Al-Quraishi, Mr. Mekki Al-Faiez, Mr. Muhammad Al-Sarraf, Mr. Nazar Awchi and Mrs. Wasan Al-Khafaji, in addition to IBC member Dr. Ahmed Talib Al-Jubouri and IBC CEO. The meeting was also attended by the new Iraqi Commercial Attaché in Jordan.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador welcomed IBC delegation and commended IBC achievements, its major role in promoting the economic ties with all competent parties and its endeavors to promote the Iraqi economy.

The Ambassador also praised the major role of IBC and the distinguished care it provides to the Iraqi community in Jordan in a number of fields such as the humanitarian, health, cultural and social fields.

During the meeting, IBC Chairman and members congratulated Mrs. Al-Siheil on the assuming her duties as Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Sadi elaborated on the goals and objectives of establishing IBC and its significant role in promoting the Iraqi – Jordanian economic relations, the main achievements realized by IBC such as the proposal of exporting Iraqi oil through Aqaba Port (Strategic Pipeline Project between Iraq and Jordan) which provides a new export outlet and contributes at the same time to meet Jordan needs for oil.

Dr. Saedi further reviewed the volume of Iraqi investments in Jordan and other countries.
Also, IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary-General Mr. Saad Naji spoke of the programs, humanitarian and cultural projects extended by IBC to the Iraqi community in Jordan since its establishment and the obstacles facing investors especially the obtainment of entry visas for experts and employees working in the members’ companies to visit Iraq which has lately become a very complicated process.

On her part, the Ambassador promised to facilitate the process of granting entry visas to experts and members’ companies employees to travel to Iraq upon provision of a confirmation letter by IBC concerning the company requesting visas.

Mr. Saad Naji further spoke of the projects established by IBC in partnership with the international organizations and missions such as ESCWA and UNDP, and IBC role in establishing the Initiative of Companies Social Responsibility in Iraq and launching a number of programs and projects that aim to serve the local society.

At the end of the meeting the two sides exchanged thanks on organizing this meeting and agreed to organize further regular meetings with the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan to discuss the proposals and projects presented by IBC.
