IBC Members Participate in the International Conference on (Media’s Role in Combating Terrorism & Extremism – Virtual Media; the New Weapon of Terrorism)

IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi, IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji and IBC Social Responsibility Advisor Dr. Amila Naji participated on Tuesday September 27th 2016 in the opening ceremony of the International Conference on the (Media’s Role in Combating Terrorism and Extremism – Virtual Media; the New Weapon of Terrorism) organized by the Arab Authority for Satellite Broadcasting under auspices of the Arab League held at Amman – Royal Hotel.

During the opening session of the Conference, the speakers emphasized the need for rational strategies to enable the media to act as a tool for confrontation as well as becoming means of propaganda to prevent terrorist groups from realizing their goals and desires.

The speakers indicated that the gravity of the threat posed by the terrorist attack on the homeland and citizen’s life works on increasing the public’s desire to recognize the source of this threat and ways of avoiding it.

They further said that there are moral, psychological, economic and social disastrous consequences caused by terrorists operations which work on the eagerness of the media to study these effects and raise the public awareness. They deemed that the exciting character of the terrorist event itself enriched by the unexpectedness, gravity, out of the ordinary, conflict, effects, consequences and active figures, which characteristics work on turning the terrorist event to a full exciting and attractive drama.

The speakers pointed out that terrorism’s need for media is clear and is manifested through the videos posted by the terrorist groups which are characterized by adopting various elements of excitement and high quality production that had met with wide interest on the sides of media and public alike due to the high techniques used in filming and production of these videos.

The opening session was concluded on emphasizing the importance and seriousness the impact of this phenomenon.

In light of the participatory responsibility, the Arab Authority of Joint Satellite Broadcasting based on the invitation of the Arab League and Civil Society Institutions, urged towards addressing the phenomenon of terrorism and extremism in its various forms.
This Conference, organized by the Arab Authority of Satellite Broadcasting under auspices of the Arab States League, is the Authority’s second conference in its effort to highlight the most prominent characteristic of the media address to terrorism and extremism phenomenon.

The Conference was attended by the Head of the Sunni Endowment Diwan Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Hmeym, the Arab League Assistant Secretary General Dr. Hayfa Abu Ghazala, Head of Information and Communication Sector, the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Siheil in addition to a large crowd of diplomatic and economic dignitaries.

IBC Chairman & Board Members Attend the Reception Given by the Dutch Ambassador

IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi and a number of IBC Board members; IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, Vice Chairman Mr. Turkey Al-Qaisi, Mr. Usama Al-Quraishi, Mr. Muhammad Al-Sarraf, Mr. Fakhri Reshan, IBC member Mr. Faris Kamal and IBC CEO accepted on Sunday September 25th 2016 the invitation extended by the Netherlands Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Paul Van Den Issel to attend the reception for launching the program of supporting and financing the small and medium businesses in Jordan at the Ambassador’s residence.

During the ceremony, the Dutch Ambassador announced that the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has provided a (3) million Dollars soft loan to the Jordan Growth Fund managed by GroFin Jordan.

This soft loan, presented by the Netherlands Fund for Good Growth in collaboration with GroFin specialized in supporting and funding small and medium businesses, aims at supporting persons who intend to start their own projects in order to deal with the difficult funding conditions and manage their businesses.

The Dutch Ambassador also said that the significance of this project comes from the fact that it allows young leaders to enter the field of small and medium investments with new ideas that meet the market requirements.

Mr. Issel further clarified that this step comes within the framework of supporting Jordan’s internal stability and assisting it to confront the difficult circumstances resulting from the regional challenges and their implications.

The soft loan will also contribute to supporting the economic growth in Jordan by generating new and innovation concepts of business solutions for small and medium enterprises that encounter difficulties in funding and securing bank loans, whereas GroFin Jordan, which is a branch of the leading global GroFin specialized in funding small and medium businesses over 12 years, will assist investors to bring together capital and support emerging companies in order to generate new job opportunities, thus contributing to the creation of inclusive growth and improve the living conditions in the country.

The project is expected to start with pioneering ideas for companies from various sectors (such as agriculture, health, education, energy and services) as owners of these ideas require capital to start their businesses, yet they are unable to secure guarantees to present to the banks in order to obtain the required funding loans.

It is anticipated to fund over 70 small and medium businesses during the next five years which would contribute to the generation 3000 new job opportunities in the country.

GroFin Jordan Director General Mrs. Alfanaz Murad stated that: “70% of small and medium businesses fail during the first three years of starting their operations, but through our support to this vital sector we would increase the opportunities of small and medium businesses in Jordan to achieve success, growth, expansion and continuity.”

The ceremony was attended by a large crowd of the diplomatic and economic dignitaries, in addition to a large number of journalists.

IBC Chairman & Vice Chairman Take Part in the Opening Ceremony of the Chinese Products Fair

Under the patronage and with the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Industry and Trade Dr. Jawad Al-Anani as representative of Jordan Prime Minister Dr. Hani Malki, and presence of IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi and Vice Chairman Mr. Turkey Al-Qaisi, the XIII Chinese Products Fair was opened on Monday September 5th 2016 in Amman in the presence of the Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Pan Weifang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and a number of Jordanian MPs, Arab and foreign Ambassadors and the Iraqi Commercial Attaché Mrs. Intesar Jafar, over 700 companies participated in the Fair held from 5th to 7th September 2016 at Amman International Motor Show Hall exhibiting over 10,000 different products mainly targeting products used in the consumer’s house.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Anani, accompanied by a number of officials and diplomatic dignitaries, toured the fair and expressed his interest in strengthening the Jordanian – Chinese economic ties as China is one of most important trade partners of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on the one hand, Jordan being a significant starting point for businessmen due to the strong relations it maintains with most of the international markets, not to mention the Free Trade Agreements binding the Jordanian market with various international markets on the other hand.

Over 12,000 businessmen, economic and industrial experts and traders from 7 countries; Jordan, China, Palestine, Iraq, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Egypt participated in the fair whereas several economic activities took place represented by Amman Chamber of Industry, Amman Chamber of Commerce, the Iraqi Business Council, the Lebanese – Chinese Business Council, in addition to the Chinese Embassy delegation.

The Chinese Products Fair (Home Life Jordan) is considered an annual international event embracing Chinese and Arab companies and a popular destination for businessmen to hold bilateral meetings with their counterparts in order to explore investment and economic opportunities for both sides.

IBC Chairman Honors the Celebrated People’s Artist Jawad Al-Shakarchi & Number of Prominent Iraqi Actors

Among the activities of IBC Cultural Program (Ibdaa), and in the presence of IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji and a number of IBC Board members; Mr. Nazar Awchi and Mr. Usama Al-Quraishi, IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi honored on Sunday September 4th 2016 at the Exit Club – Amman the prominent people’s artist and Iraqi director Jawad Al-Shakarchi along with a number of famous Iraqi actors such as Asia Kamal, Hana Muhammad and Kareem Muhsin with the Shield of Creativity and Appreciation Certificates for their remarkable efforts and great achievements in boosting Iraqi arts and representing Iraq in international circles.

The honoring ceremony took place during the social celebration set up by the Iraqi Al-Sharqiya Channel to honor (Al-Amal Program) team, which is one of Al-Shariqiya Channel’s humanitarian programs.

Chairman of the Independent Media Group Mr. Saad al-Bazzaz granted the famed Iraqi actor and director Jawad Al-Shakarchi and a number of prominent actors the Golden Creativity Medal for their role in giving hope to the vulnerable and needy who suffered severe humane situations as a result of the difficult circumstances experienced by Iraq.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of Iraqi actors and singers, leading Iraqi football coaches, in addition to a large crowd of journalists, litterateurs, IBC CEO and staff.
