Economic Event: IBC Deputy Chairman & Secretary General Participate in the Economic Meeting Organized by the Iraqi Embassy with Jordan Investment Board

At the invitation of the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Haider Al-Athari, the Iraqi Business Council Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Dr. Saad Naji and IBC members; Mr. Ahmad Al-Amili, Mr. Aqeel Hadi and Mr. Dargham Al-Jarrah participated in the economic meeting held on Sunday July 18th 2021 at the Jordan Investment Board offices, where the Council participated with four representatives of Iraqi businessmen and investors out of only five who were invited to the meeting under the patronage and participation of Ambassador Haider Al-Athari, with the Secretary General and Acting President of the Head of Jordan Investment Authority Mr. Freidoon Hartouqa, a number of officials of Jordan Investment Board, Head of the Arab Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Expatriates – Jordanian Ambassador Mr. Shakir Al-Ammoush, and the presence of the Acting for Iraqi Commercial Attaché Mr. Nabil Noori and a number of Iraqi businessmen and investments to discuss the obstacles and challenges facing Iraqi businessmen and investors.

The following is the text of the press release we received from the Iraqi Embassy about the topics that were discussed during the meeting.

  • A fruitful and constructive meeting was held this afternoon at Jordan Investment Board offices, which lasted for nearly two hours, with the presence of the Iraqi Ambassador Mr. Haider Al-Athari and a number of Iraqi businessmen, investors, industrialists, the acting for Iraqi Commercial Attaché Mr. Nabil Noori and the Secretary General of Jordan Investment Board and the acting for the Board’s President Mr. Freidoon Hartouqa, and the presence of a number of the Board’s officials and Head of the Arab Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Expatriates – Ambassador Shakir Al-Ammoush.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Al-Athari talked about the importance of holding this meeting to discuss the obstacles and challenges facing the Iraqi businessman, investor and industrialist in Jordan and working on finding appropriate solutions to create an appropriate investment environment.

This approach is consistent with the directions of His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al-Hussein, the Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Mr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh and the outcome of Baghdad Summit tripartite held in Baghdad end of last month, all of which emphasized on working joining efforts to overcome all obstacles to support the investor.

Ambassador Al-Athari quickly reviewed his recent moves with the officials in the Jordanian state in this regard, through the team that was recently formed at the Embassy, and membership of a number of specialized employees to act as a link between the investor, businessman, industrialist and the officials in the Jordanian state to overcome all obstacles that face them.

After that, the Iraqi investors put forward the obstacles and difficulties that face the Iraqi investor, along with suggested solutions.

For his part, Mr. Hartouqa affirmed his understanding and interest in all that was raised in the meeting, that the Jordan Investment Authority will be supportive of all Iraqi investors, businessmen and industrialists, and will work to overcome all obstacles encountering them.

At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador extended his thanks and gratitude to Mr. Hartouqa on organizing this fruitful and constructive meeting, which will be the beginning of further future meetings aiming at overcoming all obstacles in order to create an appropriate environment to encourage Iraqi investment in Jordan, which will also be a strong supporter of the Jordanian and Iraqi economy.

Opening of Hana Sadiq’s Exhibition Titled “Fashion & Jewelry with Modern Touches” At The Iraqi Business council Hall

Under the patronage of the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Haider Al-Adhari and his wife Mrs. Maysam Al-Rubaiei, the exhibition of the international designer Hana Sadiq titled “Fashions & Jewelry with Modern Touches” was opened on Monday July 12th 2021 on the Iraqi Business Council Hall / 1st floor.

The Iraqi Ambassador and his wife, IBC Deputy Chairman & Secretary General Dr. Saad Naji and IBC member Dr. Amila Naji toured the exhibition with designer Hana Sadiq to acquaint themselves with the exhibits, which reflected the Iraqi heritage with contemporary modernity and distinguished by the art of embroidery and writing poetic verses on the exhibited dresses with silk and reed threads and beads, in addition to the inclusion of conflicting colors in the same dress.

The exhibition also included unique jewelry made of silver and precious tones.

The event was attended by a number of the Iraqi Embassy staff, IBC guests, media and IBC Director General and staff.

 

The idea of establishing the Iraqi Business Council is based on the common desire generated by a number of elites. Those who are Iraqi investors and businessmen on the territory of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan unanimous in the importance of creating economic reference for them, as well as for those who wish to join them in order to maximize Iraq’s investment in Jordan, as well as to contribute actively to Iraq’s construction and reconstruction.

Meeting of the British Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Bridget Brind with Iraqi Business council Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi

The British Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Bridget Brind met on Sunday July 11th 2021 with the Chairman of the Iraqi business Council Dr. Majid Saedi during her visit to Dr. Saedi’s office.

The Ambassador was accompanied by the Second Secretary for Regional Affairs Mr. Muddathar Mussawar and the British Embassy’s Head of the International Trade Department Mrs. Suha Patarseh in the presence of the Council’s Director General.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Saedi welcomed the British Ambassador and the accompanying delegation of Embassy staff, then talked about the importance of economic integration and cooperation between Iraq, Jordan and Egypt in all fields because of its benefits for the peoples of the region, especially cooperation in the field of energy and the need to implement the Electrical Linkage Project between Jordan, Iraq and Egypt and establishing logistic cities to serve industry.

Dr. Saedi expressed his optimism about improving the economic situation in Iraq after the upcoming elections.

He further talked about the achievements of the Iraqi Business Council as a professional business organization that has endeavored since its establishment to provide facilities to the Council members of Iraqi businessmen and investors and overcome obstacles, the Council’s role as a link between international companies and the Iraqi private sector, and the support of the Council’s members to the Jordanian economy by investing in Jordan and Iraq, in addition to the Council’s initiatives to promote a number of important and vital projects between Iraq and Jordan, such as the Iraqi – Jordanian Pipeline Project, lauding the security stability enjoyed by Jordan, and its important geographical location for Iraq, which makes it an attractive area for Iraq investors and businessmen.

For her part, the British Ambassador Mrs. Bridget Brind congratulated Dr. Saedi on his recent assumption of the position of Head of Central England Development and extended her thanks for organizing the meeting and stressed her willingness to invite and encourage the British companies to participate in future projects in Iraq.  At the end of the meeting, Dr. Saedi presented the British Ambassador with the Council’s souvenir (the Sumerian Tree of Life).
