Opening of “Elite Exhibition” Under Patronage of the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Haider Al-Athari On IBC Hall / 1st Floor / Swefiya

Among the activities of IBC Cultural Program (Ibdaa), “Elite Exhibition” was opened on Thursday June 23rd 2022 on IBC Hall / 1st Floor.

The exhibition, which was distinguished by creative designs executed by Iraqi artists and craftsmen, was opened under patronage and attendance of the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Haider Al-Athari, and his wife, Mrs. Maysam Al-Rubaiee, the Egyptian Commercial Attaché, Mrs. Muna Abboud, IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General, Dr. Saad Naji, and IBC Board members; Engineer Mekki Al-Faiz, Mr. Muhammad Jawad Al-Jubouri and Mrs.

Tamara Daghistani, and members of IBC General Assembly; Engineer Turki Al-Qaisi, Mr. Fakhri Reshan, Mr. Ghassan Al-Jouaani and his wife, in addition to a crowd that included members of the Iraqi community in Jordan including artists, academics and journalists, satellite TV channels, IBC Chief Executive Officer and staff.

During the opening ceremony, the Iraqi Ambassador toured the exhibition with IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary-General, IBC Board members and members of the General Assembly to acquaint themselves with the exhibits, which were characterized by special designs reflecting and expressing the Iraqi cultural heritage such as costumes, embroideries, handcrafts and paintings executed by Iraqi designers, who excelled in the usage of textiles and colors.

The Iraqi Ambassador, Mr. Haider Al-Athari, praised efforts of the Iraqi Business Council and its continued keenness to organize and hold cultural events that aim at supporting artists, creators and craftsmen and encourage them to produce all that expresses the Iraqi culture with its great diversity in all fields.

Furthermore, Al-Beit Al-Baghdadi Catering Company, headed by Mr. Mustafa Al-Mullahweesh, provided the event’s hospitality that included delicious dishes chosen from the distinguished Iraqi cuisine.

IBC’s Cultural Program “Ibdaa” Hosts the Book Signing & Publicising of “Musafir Zadahu Al-Khayal” (Translation: A Traveler Whose Victual is Imagination) By Renowned Iraqi Actress Hind Kamil

Including the activities of the Iraqi Business Council’s Cultural Program “Ibdaa”, IBC hosted on Monday June 6th 2022 at Amman Royal Hotel the signing and publicising ceremony of “Musafir Zadahu Al-Khayal” Book by the renowned Iraqi actress Hind Kamil in the presence of the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Haider Al-Athari, the renowned Iraqi Director Mr. Faisal Al-Yasiri, the renowned Iraqi actor Mr. Hasan Hosni, and Head of the Jordanian Artists Union Director Muhammad Yousif Al-Abadi, IBC’S Deputy Chairman and Secretary-General Dr. Saad Naji, IBC Board members; Mr. Mekki Al-Faiz, Mr. Khalil Al-Bunniya and IBC member Mr. Nazar Awji, in addition to IBC members and members of IBC Cultural Program “Ibdaa”, along with a large crowd of artistic, cultural and media figures.

The ceremony included a speech delivered by IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary-General Dr. Saad Naji on “Ibdaa” Cultural Program, which was launched by IBC since its establishment as cultural and humanitarian program with the objective of supporting elites, cultural and artistic competencies, which represents an aspect of IBC social responsibility and the true partnership between the business community and the cultural and academic bodies.

The Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Haider Al-Abadi commended the renowned Iraqi actress Hind Kamil and her imprint on the memory and taste of Iraqis for decades.

The Ambassador also extended his thanks and appreciation to the Iraqi Business Council for hosting the event and commended IBC’s Cultural Program “Ibdaa”.

The presenter of the event, journalist Muhammad Al-Sayed Mohsin, gave a brief preview on the Iraqi actress’s biography, which extended over decades of excellence in the artistic field.

The Iraqi actress Hind Kamil also spoke about releasing her “Musafir Zadahu Al-Khayal”, which is considered a historic document, though which she aimed at documenting and chronicling the career of an Iraqi female actress that started in the mid-seventies of the past century to the present date, who has been a witness on political eras, tribulations, conflicts and wars that took place in Iraq; as she is the daughter of these wars, who seeks to document the career of this “actor” through his time by shedding the light on his vocabulary, highlighting his clothing, the nature of his experience and general knowledge.

Through this book, actress Kamil also tried to document the “actor’s” life; his philosophy, vision, assessment and appreciation of matters, so that this book may become a document, a reference and a witness to the era.. a witness to the phase that Iraq and its people when through.. a document that speaks about a character representing the stages that he went through.. as well as talking about the many characters that crossed path with the main character (the author of this book).

Therefore, the actress tried hard to produce and implement it in the manner of a historic document to become a source and reference for specialized libraries to refer to and make use of the information contained in it, as well as to become an example for specialized establishment interested in documenting the lives of creative figures.

The event also included a speech by the renowned Iraqi actor Hasan Hosni, who highlighted a number of important roles played by actress Hind Kamil.

 

IBC Deputy Chairman & Secretary-General Participates in the “UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit” for 2022

At the invitation extended by Mrs. Sanda Ojiambo , the CEO of the UN Global Compact, the largest world community initiative for corporates sustainable development, the Iraqi Business Council Deputy Chairman & Secretary-General, Dr. Saad Naji, and the Council’s CEO participated in the “UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit” for 2022, which was held on June 1st and 2nd 2022 via video communication technology in New York – United States of America.

This year, over 12,000 business leaders, governments, UN representatives, civil society and corporates executives’ leaders gathered in the UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit led by the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Antonio Guterres, and the UN Secretary-General Assistant and CEO of the Un Global Compact, Mrs. Sanda Ojiambo. The Summit was held under the slogan “The World We Want”.

The event included bilateral meetings in Bangkok – Thailand, in addition to the opening of Stockholm UN Conference 50+ to celebrate the anniversary of the UN Conference in 1972 on the Human Environment, as well as celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Global Environmental Action.

During the Summit, the United Nations Global Agreement was announced on the new strategy to engage small and medium companies to work on achieving sustainable development goals, particularly sustainable growth, employment, small and medium companies, industrialization and sustainable innovation.

The closing session of the Summit witnessed the announcement of 10 Sustainable Development Goals Pioneers of the UN Global Compact, who are business leaders from around the world, who are doing exceptional work to advance the Sustainable Development Goals by implementing the ten principles of the UN Global Compact on Human Rights, Environment, Labor and Anti-Corruption.

It is noteworthy that the Iraqi Business Council in Jordan was one of the first organizations that had joined the UN Global Compact and worked on applying and implementing the ten principles of the Compact in all its procedures and adopting the Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility.
