Iraqi Business Council Hosts the Annual Ramadan Iftar Banquet & Celebrates Iraqi Orphans in Jordan

To strengthen the bonds of love and cordiality in the month of love and forgiveness (Ramadan), and under the title “Ramadan Brings Us Together with Love and Prosperity”, IBC hosted on Sunday May 26th at the Grand Millennium Hotel – Amman the annual Ramadan Iftar banquet which included celebrating the Iraqi orphaned children and distribution of Eid presents.

The ceremony was attended by the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Siheil and a number of diplomats, consultants, attachés and Iraqi Embassy heads of departments.

The ceremony begun with a speech delivered by IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi, who spoke about the frameworks that IBC seeks to establish constructive values within an agenda that is consistent in its content and objectives to reflect the spirit of solidarity and assistance that IBC seeks to strengthen.

In his speech, Dr. Saedi lauded the great role the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan plays to facilitate economy and investment for Iraqi economists, in addition to the political and central role of the Kingdom in the region.

In her turn, the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Siheil delivered a speech expressing her great satisfaction with this initiative aiming at celebrating the orphaned children and putting a simile on their innocent faces, praising IBC role to support vulnerable families throughout the year through its humanitarian programs.

The ceremony also included honoring the journalists who participated in covering the event and in particular activities relating to celebrating the orphaned children, thanking sponsors of the Iftar event, and honoring Linosa Company for events organization and management chaired by Mr. Yazan Ali Ghalib Al-Khafaji and the company’s staff for the creative design and preparations of IBC Iftar Banquet.

The event was attended by IBC Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Secretary General, a number of IBC board and general assembly members and their families, a crowd of the Iraqi community members including artists and academics, in addition to IBC CEO and staff, journalists and satellite TV channels.

IBC Hosts Christmas & New Year Bazaar In cooperation with “Together for Charity for Development & Training” Association

In cooperation with “Together for Charity for Development and Training” Association, IBC hosted on Tuesday December 18th 2018 Christmas and New Year Bazaar on IBC Hall under auspices of the Iraqi Embassy in Jordan with the presence of the representatives of the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Siheil, IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, IBC member and the Social Responsibility Advisor Dr. Amila Naji, CEO of “Together for Charity for Development and Training” Association Mr. Eyad Abbas, along with a crowd of the Iraqi community in Jordan of physicians, academics, artists, activists and volunteers in the humanitarian field who provide medical, academic and financial support throughout the year for the needy families, in addition to the CEO and staff of IBC. 

A number of women, who support their vulnerable families, as well as craftsmen, artisans and producers of dates, leather industries, accessories and embroideries participated in the two-day Bazaar.

The Bazaar was organized to enable women economically, highlight their skills and innovations and market the products to benefit these vulnerable families.

The Bazaar activities were concluded on Wednesday December 19th 2018 with a special ceremony held to honor all supporters of the Bazaar.  On behalf of IBC Chairman, Mr. Omar Saedi presented gifts to all participants of vulnerable families.

Mr. Eyad Abbas thanked IBC Chairman and members for their continuous support extended to vulnerable families and humanitarian activities, and presented certificates of appreciation in an expression of his thanks and appreciation.  The Bazaar activities were covered by TV satellite channels and social media.

The Iraqi Business Council Undertakes Building of a Children’s Mobile Green Library

The Iraqi Business Council undertook a special project of building of a mobile green library for the Iraqi refugee children’ school at Marka – Jordan.

Architect Nermine Marji designed the library, the idea of which was based on the usage of recycled materials such as newsprints paper, carton paper and empty plastic water bottles which the children built themselves.

IBC provided the library with a large number of children stories, books and educational magazines that would contribute to scientific enrichment, development of scientific skills and building of language inventory for the children.

Completion of Distribution of Ramadan Charity Packages To Vulnerable Families in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

Originating from IBC social responsibility and as part of its Social Aid Program, Ramadan Charity Packages have been distributed on several stages since the beginning of the Holy month of Ramadan for the year 2018 on vulnerable families in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Seven hundred fifty families, whose members ranging between 3-7 persons, registered at the United Nations Higher Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) living in the areas of Al-Jofa Mount, Northern Hashimi and Marka benefited from this campaign.

Each package included only food items.  IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. SaadNaji, IBC members; Mr. Atheer Al-Qadi, Mustaf Al-Sheikh, IBC CEO and staff took part in the distribution campaign.

IBC & Grand Millennium Amman Hotel Host A Charity Iftar Banquet for Orphans

IBC, the Grand Millennium Amman Hotel and Oden Media hosted on Thursday June 7th 2018 a charity iftar under patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess RajwaBint Ali attended by HRH Wijdan Al-Hashimi and several Charity Societies including Princess Taghreed Foundation for Development & Training (Dar Al-Nahda), Al-Hussein Social Foundation and Sponsors of IBC Orphan Care program.

The event included distribution of Eid presents on the participating children presented by the sponsors of the event and Zain Telecommunications, in addition to entertainment programs that the children enjoyed.

Hosting this charity banquet is part of IBC, Grand Millennium Amman Hotel and Oden Media corporal social responsibility during the holy month of Ramadan within the context of establishing and strengthening constructive values and an agenda reflecting the spirit of solidarity and assistance that both seek to promote.

IBC Receives & Honors Iraqi Expatriate Professor Rayan Abdullah

Among the Activities of IBC Youth Committee (Future Leaders), and in cooperation with the Youth 21 Foundation, IBC held on Thursday March 15th, 2018 at IBC Hall 1st floor a honoring ceremony and lecture under the title “Identity Building” by the Iraqi expatriate Professor Rayan Abdullah.

During the lecture, Professor Abdullah reviewed the techniques and skills of designing slogans, means of guidance and clarification and the theory of building the visual identity and its impact on the individual’s choices and reactions.

Among the activities of IBC Cultural program (Ibdaa) that honors and celebrates Iraqi innovators, IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji honored Professor Rayan Abdullah with the “Creative Work Honor” in recognition of his professional and academic achievements in the field of graphic design and his embodiment of Arabic Fonts in his contemporary deigns, in addition to presenting Professor Abdullah with IBC icon “the Sumerian Tree of Life”.

The event was attended by a large number of IBC members, a number of deans and heads of departments of the German – Jordanian University, in addition to a crowd of artists, academics, media and university students.

Participation of IBC Vice President and Secretary General & IBC Advisor for Social Responsibility in the International Conference for Women Empowerment

Upon an invitation extended by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Business & Professional Women Club Association, IBC Vice President and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, IBC Advisor for Social Responsibility Dr. Amila Naji and IBC CEO participated in the International Conference for Women Empowerment within the Comprehensive and Sustainable Industrial Development in the Middle East and North Africa Region held on Tuesday July 20th 2016 at the Amman Meridian Hotel in cooperation with Jordan Ahli Bank.

The Conference aimed at launching the UNIDO Regional Project “Empowerment of Women of Small and Medium-Sized Projects for a Comprehensive and Sustainable Industrial Development in the Middle East and North Africa Region” that is part of the activities applied in the framework of the UNIDO Project to find policies dialogue, identify recommendations and exchange successful practices over common economic and development themes to develop women entrepreneurship in the Middle East and North Africa Region, in the presence of the conference Sponsor the Jordanian Labor Minister Mr. Ali Al-Ghazzawi and the Italian Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Giovanni Brauzzi.

During the opening session, the President of Business & Professional Women Club Association MP Haifa Al-Najjar stressed that the Conference is an opportunity to share the success stories of a number of women entrepreneurs and exchange experiences to enhance the central role of women in the industrial and economic development.

MP Al-Najjar further added that among the objectives of the Conference is setting up a framework to encourage women to invest, in addition to encourage networking between businesswomen in the Arab and European countries and the supporting economic institutions.

On the sidelines of the Conference, a significant meeting took place between IBC Vice President and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji and President of the Business & Professional Women Club Association MP Haifa Al-Najjar during which certain Programs were reviewed covering women empowerment carried out by IBC.

Mr. Saad Naji invited MP Al-Najjar to hold a meeting with IBC Board members to acquaint herself with IBC activities and the obstacles encountering the Iraqi business community in particular and those facing the Iraqis residing on the Kingdom’s soil in general in order to be later reviewed by the Jordanian Parliament.

During the Conference, the UNIDO Representative Mr. Geraldo Bataconi said that the UNIDO, through this Conference, looks forward to determining the necessary policies and procedures to facilitate business for women mainly in the seven Southern Mediterranean countries, besides empowering women and enhancing their role in the Middle East and North Africa Region and shed the light on the importance of the national, regional and international activities to promote women entrepreneurship, enhance their competitiveness capabilities and facilitate their obtainment of funding.

The Conference included a series of lectures and common discussions over the sustainable economic development in order to create local employment opportunities and sustainable civil preparation.

Completion of Ramadan Parcels Distribution Campaign To Vulnerable Families in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan On the Occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan 2016.

Including the activities of IBC Social Aid Programs, Ramadan parcels were distributed on several stages throughout the holy month of Ramadan on the needy and vulnerable families in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, whereas the campaign targeted 900 families fully registered at the United Nations Higher Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) residing the areas of Jabal Al-Jova, Hashemi Shemali and Marka.

The packages included food supplies only.

The parcels distribution campaign were attended by IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary Mr. Saad Naji, members of IBC Humanitarian Committee; Mrs. Tamara Daghistani and Mrs. Widad Al-Saffar, a number of volunteers; Hamza and Sanad Jalal Al-Qaoud, IBC member Mr. Mustafa Al-Sheikh, in addition to IBC CEO and staff.

Furthermore, IBC participated in the Iftar banquet for orphans held on Friday July 1st 2016 at the Amman Grand Millennium Hotel by Dr. Majid AlSadi President of Eastern Holdings Group under patronage of HRH Princess Rajwa Bint Ali.

The event was attended by a large number of orphans from Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans, Princess Taghreed Association for Development & Training (Dar Al-Nahda) along with a number of Iraqi orphans covered by IBC Social Welfare Programs in Jordan where children were served a Ramadan Iftar meal.

The event also included a comic play and distribution of material and cash gifts on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

The event was attended by the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Siheil, the representative of the Development & Social Affairs Minister and Ministry Advisor Dr. Louay Al-Assaf, a number of IBC Board and General Assembly members, a crowd of journalists and Satellite TV channels.

IBC Vice President and Secretary General Participation in a Specialized Seminar On Corporate Social Responsibility

IBC Vice President and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji accepted an invitation extended by the Jordanian Global Compact Network of the United Nations to attend a specialized symposium of Social Responsibility for Companies held on Sunday December 13th 2015 at the Headquarters of Amman Chamber of Commerce in Shmesani in cooperation with Amman Chamber of Commerce, the Netherlands Embassy in Amman and the Jordan – Europe Business Association (JEBA).
The Symposium, where elite experts in the field of Social Responsibility for Companies for Society Development participated, aimed at finding a platform for exchanging the best practices for the purpose of implementing this responsibility through integrating strategies and activities carried out by the companies with the principles Global Compact in the field of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.

During the symposium, Mr. Saad Naji reviewed to the President of the Jordanian Global Compact Network Mr. Mustafa Nassir Al-Din IBC role in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility towards society and the Council’s efforts in cconsolidating these principles of the Global Compact, being a pioneer founder of the Global Compact Network of the United Nations in Iraq, and setting up a number of programs that flow in the stream of social development, and agreement was reached that IBC joins the Jordanian Global Compact Network.

On his part, President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce Mr. Issa Haider Murad stressed the importance of holding this Seminar, expressing the Chamber’s keenness, being a partner in the Jordanian Global Compact Network, on supporting its objectives in spreading the principles of the Global Compact and enhancing the Corporate Social Responsibility and deepening cooperation between the Jordanian Corporations and the Academic Institutions.

The Chamber’s President emphasized the Private Sector’s role in finding development projects that would contribute to achieving social and economic stability in communities.

Furthermore, President of the Jordan – Europe Business Association (JEBA) Mr. Jamal Frez stressed the importance of developing partnership between Governments and the Business Society concerning Social Responsibility, and that companies and businesses take into consideration the legal, ethical and social dimensions in the decision-making process.

The Dutch Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Paul Van Den Aseel clarified that the Jordanian companies joined the Global Compact as early as 2006, but the number was limited at the time to few large companies, however, it is anticipated that this membership would soon expand to cover a larger number of companies, indicating that his country, in consistency with the Charter, is currently thinking of developing certain programs to support the Jordanian economy to bear the burden of refugees, hoping to encourage through this program large and medium-sized corporations of the Netherlands to invest in Jordan to contribute in the provision of employment opportunities.

President of the Jordanian Global Compact Network Mr. Mustafa Nassir Al-Din called upon the Jordanian institutions, companies and the business community to intensify their efforts towards the application of the UN Global Compact principles and its vision represented by the creation of inclusive and sustainable global economy realizing the interests of individuals, communities and markets, and that the Compact contents are adopted as strategies in harmony with the international principles of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.

Representatives of the Private Sector companies participated in this Seminar such as Nuqul Group, ARAMEX, Talal Abu Ghazala Group and a number of Non-Government Organizations representatives.
