Economic Event: IBC Chairman & Members Participate in Jordan Projects & Iraq Reconstruction Forum

IBC Chairman Mr. Ahmad Al-Sarraf and a number of IBC members; Mr. Turkey Al-Qaisi, Mr. Dargham Al-Jarrah and IBC Director General participated on Wednesday November 6th 2019 in the “Jordan Projects & Iraq Reconstruction Forum 2019” organized by Korea Trade Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in cooperation with the Korean (Kospo) Corporation held at Jordan Four Seasons Hotel.

Fifteen South Korean companies specialized in the Engineering, Construction and Equipment fields participated in the Forum, in addition to companies specialized in Energy, Electricity, Water Purification and Infrastructure sectors such as SOOSAN Heavy Industries, HYOSUNG Heavy Industries and POSCO International companies.

On the official side, six Iraqi ministries participated in the Forum including the Ministries of Electricity, Transport, Construction & Housing and Water and the General Oil Company where they talked about several projects to be implemented in the Republic of Iraq such as Energy, Water, Oil & Gas, in addition to Jordan Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources (MEMR) and the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO). During the Forum, representatives of the government side reviewed a number of projects in the Energy and Oil & Gas sectors and the cooperating between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Iraq in these sectors.

Also, a number of IBC member companies in Jordan and Iraqi companies who specially visited Jordan upon an invitation extended by KOTRA Amman in coordination with Baghdad Branch (KOTRA Baghdad), in addition to Jordanian companies involved in construction and infrastructure and reconstruction of Iraq projects.

The Korean Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Lee Ji Wan attended activities of the Forum, and urged the Korean companies, in his welcome speech, to enter the business market in Iraq and Jordan.

He also listened to experts and officials of the Iraqi and Jordanian governments discussing issues on infrastructure and electric energy.

During the Forum, business meetings were organized between the Korean companies and their Iraqi and Jordanian counterparts.
