IBC Chairman and members took part in the activities of the Jordanian – Iraqi Parliamentary Forum held on Wednesday April 3rd, 2019 at the Intercontinental Hotel – Amman, organized by the Jordanian Investment and Economy Parliamentary Committee headed by the Speaker of Parliament HE Atif Al-Tarawneh, who opened the Forum with a welcoming speech, in which he stressed that the Parliament will support any step toward putting the Jordanian technical, administrative and economic capabilities in the hands of its Iraqi brethrens to support them to complete their march towards development and construction, stressing that Amman and Baghdad form one beating heart.
MP Hassan Al-Kinani Head of the Iraqi Parliamentary Economy and Investment Committee stressed the deep relations binding the two brotherly countries especially the fraternal, humanitarian and geographic relations, pointing out the importance of the agreements concluded between the two countries to open wide cooperation horizons between the two countries in all fields toward an Iraqi – Jordanian economic integration.

During his participation in the Arab Economic Integration session, IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi demanded adoption of multiple entry visas system for Iraqis travelling to the Kingdom, stressing that economic integration is still a term in our reality that we have not been able to enter in the executive reality so far and that the key integration obstacles is the inability of the Arab citizen to travel among the Arab States unless he obtains an entry visa, and the effect was also evident on the exchange of Arab – Arab goods, and we also did not benefit from the successful integrating experiences especially the European experience.

Dr. Saedi further added that the first significant migrations for Iraqis towards Jordan started in 1991 where Iraqis were able, through their presence in Jordan, to establish relations that had serious endeavors toward wide economic integration, pointing out that this positive phase between Jordan and Iraq must be invested, especially that that the agreement concluded between the two countries is on the verge of implementation as Jordan is considered Iraq’s only neighboring country that deals at a same distance with all Iraqi components.
