Iraqi Business Council Participates as Community Partner & Supporter of Fine Arts In the largest Art & Cultural Gathering Held in Jordan

Among the activities of IBC Cultural Program, the Iraqi Business Council participated as a community partner and supporter of fine arts in the largest arts and cultural gathering held in Jordan organized by “Dar Al Funoun”.

The opening of this significant event took place on Saturday June 12th 2021 at “Swefieh Village” in the presence of HRH Wijdan Al-Hasimi, HRH Rajwa Al-Ali, IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Dr. Saad Naji, IBC member Dr. Amila Naji, IBC Director General and staff amidst organized presence that took into account social distancing meeting the conditions of public safety.

The event was attended by a group of artists, media and those interested in fine arts.  Over 160 artists participated in this pioneering art event and a large number of young artists were involved in this event in order to empower them and support their creations.

IBC participated in this distinguished event with a number of its collections of artworks of Iraqi artists who had earlier held art exhibitions on IBC hall.

 

The idea of establishing the Iraqi Business Council is based on the common desire generated by a number of elites. Those who are Iraqi investors and businessmen on the territory of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan unanimous in the importance of creating economic reference for them, as well as for those who wish to join them in order to maximize Iraq’s investment in Jordan, as well as to contribute actively to Iraq’s construction and reconstruction.

The idea of establishing the Iraqi Business Council was well-founded and blessed by the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Accordingly, the approval of the competent Jordanian authorities was commended for launching the Iraqi Business Council in Jordan.

 

 

 

The Iraqi Business Council Hosts His Excellency The Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism & Antiquities Dr. Hassan Nadhim

As part of its (Ibdaa) Cultural Program, IBC hosted on Monday October 12th 2020 the Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism & Antiquities Dr. Hassan Nadhim via ZOOM Application to discuss the Ministry’s cultural projects and the available investment opportunities.

At the beginning of the session, IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi welcomed the Minister and the participants, lauding the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Antiquities’ project on setting a date for the National Day, stressing that this is happening for the first time in the history of Iraq, and thanked the efforts of the Iraqi Minister in this respect.

Dr. Saedi also gave an overview on a number of achievements realized by the Council on all levels including IBC (Ibdaa) Cultural Program.
Dr. Saedi said that IBC is considered a link between the business community in Iraq and the international business community, referring to IBC role in strengthening the economic relations between Jordan and Iraq including the oil linkage between Basra and Jordan’s city of Aqaba.

He also said that IBC (Ibdaa) Cultural Program aims at honoring Iraqi creative personalities inside and outside Iraq, calling on future partnership between IBC and the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Antiquities.
On his part, the Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism & Antiquities Dr. Hassan Nadhim lauded IBC achievements in the economic and cultural fields, considering this meeting as an opportunity to discuss the Ministry’s cultural projects, listening to ideas and opinions that may be useful in implementing in the Ministry’s future projects.

The Minister lauded the project appertaining to honoring the Iraqi creative personalities within the Council’s (Ibdaa) Cultural Program for its cultural importance and the support it provides to scientists, artists and creative personalities.

He also expressed the Ministry’s readiness to become a partner in this Project, and talked about the reasons for choosing October 3rd to become Iraq’s National Day.

He further emphasized the Ministry’s efforts to choose a non-controversial day to become Iraqi’s National Day to be agreed upon by all Iraqis that is not subject to any religious, ethnic or similar sensitivity.

Therefore, October 3rd was chosen to be Iraq’s National Day, which is the day when Iraq joined the League of Nations, the day the British Mandate on Iraq ended and the day when Iraq became a country enjoying full sovereignty and international recognition.
The Minister further added that the Ministry was successful in separating the Holiday Law from the National Day Law to facilitate passing it, referring to the Ministry’s efforts to choose a non-controversial day to be a date for Iraq’s National Day agreed upon be everyone and is not subject to any calculations.

He pointed out Iraq’s National Anthem Project is still in the stage of discussion and there are two options in this regard; either choosing a text for a well-known Iraqi poet or composing a new text subject to a specific technical criteria.
The Iraqi Minister also answered a point raised by IBC Chairman Dr. Saedi on finding ways to encourage and regulate the tourism sector in Iraq, especially that the tourism revenue to the Iraqi National Production is almost meager, indicating that there are tendencies to work on changing the current situation and revitalizing tourism in Iraq despite the consequences of the COVID-19 Pandemic crisis.
For his part, IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji reviewed the cultural activities held within IBC (Ibdaa) Project which characterized IBC before other similar business organizations that aim to support the civil society such as art exhibitions, honoring creative personalities, publicizing and book signing by writers and authors and holding cultural celebrations to introduce the great Mesopotamia Civilization to the Jordanian local society and the new young generations, in addition to holding cultural lectures, fashion shows and IBC sponsoring and printing books.
Mr. Naji touched upon the Participatory Applied National Committee in the Good Democratic Governance launched by the Iraqi Business Council in participation with the United Nations Economic & Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the Arab League during a workshop held by IBC in Amman, which dealt with partnership between the government sector, the private sector and the civil society organizations to formulate and decision-making in Iraq, stressing out that “this comes out of IBC’s belief that the citizen is the main partner in decision-making with the government”.
Mr. Naji also referred to the need for business communities to adopt the principles of the United Nations Global Compact, which emphasizes transparency, combating corruption, preserving environment, combating poverty and child labor, as IBC was one of the first organizations to join this Compact, calling on the Ministry of Culture to support the creative personalities honoring project, that comes under IBC (Ibdaa) Cultural Program, inside and outside Iraq through partnership with the Council.
The session included interventions by the participants on the protection of the intellectual property rights, combating the smuggling of antiquities, strengthening cultural relations with the Arab neighboring countries, especially Jordan, interest in tourism and supporting Iraqi creative personalities outside Iraq.

Iraqi Business Council Hosts the Signing Ceremony of Dr. Majid Matar Al-Khateeb’s Book “The Path to Awareness”

Among the activities of its Cultural Program (Ibdaa) , IBC hosted on Saturday February 8th, 2020 on its Hall / 1st floor the signing ceremony of “The Path to Awareness” – a study on the foundations of awareness and environmental awareness – by the visiting guest from Baghdad Dr. Majid Matar Al-Khateeb, issued by (Dar Al-Thakira) for Publishing and Distribution.
At the beginning of the ceremony Dr. Shawqi Naji Al-Saati gave an introductory briefing about the Author, his academic degrees and works such as; (Citizenship and Environment, the Urban Fabric of Al-Najaf, Contemporary Studies on the Environment and Pollution, and Iraq’s Cultural and Economic History), and his supervising a number of thesis, in addition to chairing several committees in the same specialization.
The Author of the book Dr. Al-Khateeb welcomed the guests and expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Iraqi Business Council for hosting the signing ceremony of his book.
He then gave an overview on the most important contents of the book chapters, which is considered a study on the foundations of awareness and environmental awareness, and multiple visions of the concept of awareness, its implications, goals and types from which the five chapters were generated.
The first chapter of his book constituted an entrance to awareness to define it in terms of language and terminology, the concept of awareness and the relationship between awareness and reason.
The second chapter presented a historic vision of awareness, its roots and relationship with the human instinct, the historic stages of awareness and the relationship of awareness with the human needs.
In the third chapter, the Author talked about the main sources that formed and crystallized human awareness, the impact and role of the environmental information, education and environment and their importance in generating awareness and environmental awareness on the level of the individual and global community.
As for the fourth chapter, it constituted a broad entrance to the environment in its definitions and multiple components, in addition to indicating the relationship and mutual impact between the environment and sustainable development.
In the last chapter of his book, the Author focused on environmental awareness, its concept and objectives and means of achieving it and the necessity of preserving the environment.
The last chapter of the book ended by crystallizing the fruit of that awareness represented by the global concern and that of humanity as a whole with environment, its contemporary and serious problems that have occupied the mind of the world in the recent decades.
The ceremony included questions raised by the attendees and discussions on some points contained in the book.
At the end of the ceremony the Author signed copies of his book and presented to the attendees that included IBC members, intellectuals, academics and businessmen.

Iraqi Business Council (Ibdaa) Cultural Program Hosts the Book Signing Ceremony of “Al-Akheeth” (The Prisoner) For Journalist Muhammad Al-Sayyed Muhsin

As part of IBC (Ibdaa) Cultural Program, IBC hosted on Saturday November 16th, 2019 at IBC Hall/1st floor, the book signing ceremony of “Al-Akheeth” (The Prisoner) for Journalist Muhammad Al-Sayyed Muhsin.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the author Muhammad Al-Sayyed Muhsin talked about the harsh conditions he had lived for five years and seven months as a prisoner of war during the Iraqi – Iranian war which ended in August 8th, 1988.

The book is a biography of the author and a historical documentation of a stage almost forgotten as a result of major transformations in Iraq after 2003.
Muhammad Al-Sayyed Muhsin wrote “Al-Akheeth” (The Prisoner) depicting the journey of pain and suffering from Iraq towards the prisons of captivity in the Iranian capital Teheran, and explained in simple words how the Iraqi prisoners lived in the Iranian prisons, which was the content of the first chapter of the book.

In the second chapter he included two types of tales from the captivity prisons : narration of some events such as tales of the captivity baths.. tales of the insane prisoners in captivity, while the second part included tales with titles, heroes of which, as the writer documented, about men he described as “simple people, yet they were the heroes of those tales, so that I could tell everyone that history would not ignore or skip anything even concerning the simplest men and events”.
The author’s introduction was realistic and served as a biography of pain.. and a talk about the untold.
The ceremony was attended by a crowd of Iraqis and artists, and the famous Iraqi singer Sadoun Jabir had a special presence.
On IBC side, the ceremony was attended by IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi, IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, IBC members; Mr. Turkey Al-Qaisi, who in turn presented the author Muhammad Muhsin with a gift (the map of Iraq), Mr. Muhammad Al-Baldawi, in addition to a large number of IBC Cultural Committee members, journalists, satellite TV channels, IBC CEO and staff.

Iraqi Business Council Hosts a Cultural Evening On “Mesopotamia Civilization”

As part of the activities of IBC Cultural Program (Ibdaa), and under the patronage of HRH Princess Alia Bint Al-Hussein, IBC hosted on Wednesday September 25th, 2019 at the Grand Millennium Hotel – Amman a cultural evening on the Civilization of Mesopotamia in cooperation with the team of the British Cultural Anhidwana Association.

The evening included performances in which the “ZIBANG” team that included two storytellers; Badi Obeid and John Peters told tales from the Mesopotamian era such as “Adaba”, “Sidori” and “The Master and the Slave” Tales.

Also, Dr. Martin Worthington, who is a specialist in Ancient Iraqi languages, presented a summary on “A Poor Man From Nippu” film that he had adapted and produced in the Babylonian language and was screened during the evening.
The evening also included an exhibition for artist Hamid Ruweid, which showed copies of a number of works of arts about the civilization of Mesopotamia, on which the artist presented a summary of the symbols and historic indications they included.

The ceremony was attended by IBC Chairman, Board members and members of the General Assembly, elite artists and journalists, in addition to satellite TV channels.

The activity was presented in English and Arabic.

It is noteworthy that (Ibdaa) Cultural Program has promoted the civilization of Mesopotamia in cooperation with (ZIBANG) storytelling team, who held this show for the second year in a row.

 

Iraqi Business Council Hosts the Announcement & Signing Ceremony Of the First Part of a Book Titled “Chatting” By the Media Personality Dr. Majeed Al-Samarraie

As Part of the activities of IBC Cultural Program (Ibdaa), IBC hosted on Monday September 23rd, 2019 at Orfali Gallery – Umm Utheina the signing and announcement ceremony of the first part of the prominent media personality Dr. Majeed Al-Samarraie’s book titled (Chatting) on the sidelines of a question “How Did You See The World?), which was published by (Thakera House for Publishing & Distribution).

At the beginning of the ceremony, which was sponsored by IBC – Jordan and presented by Journalist Muhammad Al-Sayyed Muhsin, who praised in his opening speech the efforts exerted by Dr. Majeed Al-Samarrai where he rephrased his guests’ words and documented in his book.

For his part, Dr. Al-Samarrair said that “his effort is supportive to the documentation of what his guests talked about during his television program, which continued over 13 years on Al-Sharqiyah TV Channel”, during which he had hosted Iraqi innovators in various fields of artistic creativity including singers, journalists, directors, actors, painters, thinkers, etc., who he believed had the right to have their views in answering the question “How Did You See The World?” documented in a book recalling their views.

At the end of the ceremony Dr. Al-Samarraie extended his thanks to IBC for sponsoring and organizing the signing ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Siheil and a number of members of the diplomatic missions at the Embassy.

On IBC side, the ceremony was attended by IBC Chairman Dr. Majid Saedi, IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji and IBC members; Dr. Amila Naji, Mr. Turkey Al-Qaissi, Engineer Muhammad Al-Baghdadi, Dr. Muhammad Al-Baldawi, in adition to IBC CEO and staff.

The ceremony was also attended by a crowd of intellectuals, artists, innovators and writers of the Iraqi community and the Jordanian community, in addition to media personalities and satellite TV channels.

Iraqi Artist Hamid Ruweid presents IBC with a Distinctive Work of Art during his visit to Iraqi Business Council Offices

During his visit to IBC offices on Sunday September 15th, 2019, Iraqi Artist Mr. Hamid Ruweid presented IBC with a distinctive work of art made of silver containing inscriptions symbolizing the civilization of Mesopotamia.  The artist was received by IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji and IBC CEO.  The meeting also discussed participation of artist Mr. Ruweid in IBC upcoming cultural activities on the civilization of Mesopotamia scheduled to be held on Wednesday September 25th, 2019, as the artist is participating in the upcoming event with a number of works on the civilization of Mesopotamia.
IBC would extend its thanks to artist Mr. Hamid Ruweid for the outstanding work he presented to IBC.

The one who carried out the mission of founding is an elite of Iraqi businessmen of recognized competence and abilities. and since the Council’s inception in late 2006, members have worked towards efforts to support Iraqi investments in Jordan. as well as coordination and cooperation with official entities, to find solutions and proposals to overcome obstacles and constraints facing investors s economic, investment and trade cooperation between Jordan and Iraq.

Opening of Personal Exhibition of Artist Mehdi Al-Shammari Titled “Women & Cities” At The Iraqi Business council Hall

As part of the activities of IBC Cultural Program “Ibdaa”, the personal exhibition of artist Mehdi Al-Shammari was opened on Saturday August 24th 2019 on IBC Hall under the patronage of HRH Princess Najlaa Bint Assim with the attendance of the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Al-Siheil and members of the diplomatic mission at the Embassy, in addition to a large crowd of IBC members, members of the Iraqi community and Jordanian artists, academics, businessmen and journalists.
During the opening ceremony, HRH Princess Najlaa Bint Assim toured the exhibition with IBC Chairman and Board members to see the (26) exhibited paintings, through which the artist wanted to raise questions and objections on the overall experience of the Arab individual in general, and the Iraqi individual in particular, emphasizing the universal identity instead of the secondary and divided identities that are part of the concerns of the expatriate artist.

On the other hand, the exhibition attempted to present a non-stereotype form of patterns and ideas which the artist explored about women and cities in his paintings, where he linked cities to a beautiful mare, a raging bull or a mystic dancer, making the forms and shapes harmonious.. with glowing and confusing backgrounds containing the point that is the beginning of everything and the interpretive character of our minds that gives striking abstract beauty.

The artist also wanted to show that woman gives a taste and continuity to life unconditionally, and as she represents the most vulnerable in our culture, therefore, the artist wanted to extend his thanks and admiration through his paintings to every struggling woman whether a month, a sister, a daughter or a wife.

Opening of the Joint Exhibition Titled “Iraqi & Jordanian Women Fine Artists” At The Iraqi Business council Hall

Among the activities of IBC Cultural Program (Ibdaa), and under the patronage and presence of HRH Princess Fakhir Al Nisaa Bint Raad, the joint fine arts exhibition was opened on Tuesday July 2nd, 2019 on IBC Hall / 1st floor titled “Iraqi & Jordanian Women Fine Artists” with the attendance of a large crowd of members of the Iraqi community in Jordan and Jordanian local society as well as artists, academics, businessmen and journalists.  Nine woman fine artists from Iraq and Jordan participated in the exhibition.  During the opening ceremony, HRH Princess Fakhir Al-Nisaa Bint Radd toured the exhibition with IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, IBC member Mrs. Ramara Daghistani, University Professor and artist Dr. Ibrahim Al-Abdali, who supervised organization of the exhibition, and the participating artists to have a look the exhibited paintings that included different styles and schools of fine arts, characterized with their beauty and tackled many subjects that reflected the potentials and creativity of the participating artists.

The exhibition included thirty six paintings that dealt with several subjects such as nature, woman, the Iraqi and Jordanian heritage.
The ceremony was attended by the political advisor of the Iraqi Embassy in Jordan Mr. Uday Assad on behalf of the Embassy, a large number of members of Cultural Committee and fine artists, in addition to satellite TV channels, IBC CEO and staff.

Iraqi Business Council Hosts the Signing Ceremony of Novel Entitled “Dancing on the Embers of Memory”

As part of the activities of IBC Cultural Program (Ibdaa), IBC hosted on Wednesday April 24th, 2019 the signing ceremony of a Novel entitled “Dancing on the Embers of Memory” by Iraqi Journalist Aseel Sami Abdul Hameed.

At the beginning of the ceremony, verses from the Holy Koran (Al Fatiha Sura) was recited to commemorate the late celebrated popular poet Khideir Hadi.  Poet Mamoun Al-Nattah presented a brief review on writer Aseel Sami, who in turn talked about her first published Novel “Dancing on the Embers of Memory”, in which she tried to convey the image and feelings of a migrant woman lost between her nostalgia to her homeland and the fear of returning to it after having experienced many material and moral manifestations of discrimination, violence and destruction .. a women who tries to adapt to new homelands and surroundings and at the same time clings to her Iraqi identity through her association with an Iraqi man, but failure of her marriage brings her back to the same maze .. the maze of detachment and separation from her homeland and living with its memories.

After this brief presentation, Poet Mamoun Al-Nattah recited poetic verses about the homeland.

At the end of the ceremony, IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji presented IBC Icon (the Sumerian Tree of Life) to the Iraqi Journalist Aseel Sami, who in turn expressed her appreciation and gratitude to IBC for supporting and sponsoring Iraqi innovators inside outside Iraq through its (Ibdaa) Cultural Program.

On the Iraqi Embassy side, the ceremony was attended by the Iraqi Embassy First Secretary Mr. Ahmad Al-Khalidi and Mr. Hussam Al-Azzawi from the Iraqi Commercial Consulate.

On IBC side, the ceremony was attended by IBC Deputy Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, Board member Mrs. Wassan Al-Khafaji, and IBC members; Dr. Amila Naji, Mrs. Haifa Al-Sheikhli, Dr. Ahad Al-Douri, Mr. Faris Kamal, a crowd of Iraqi artists, writers and journalists, in addition to media, IBC CEO and staff.
