Participation of IBC Delegation in a Consultation Meeting to Launch an Economic Iraqi – Jordanian Entity
A delegation of IBC members participated on Tuesday April 18th 2017 at the Head Offices of Amman Chamber of Commerce in a consultation meeting to launch an economic Iraqi – Jordanian entity. IBC delegation included IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, IBC Board members Messrs.
Turkey Qaisi, Muhammad Jawad Jubouri, Mekki Faiz, Khalil Bunniya, Ali Ghalib Khafaji, Usama Quraishi, Ahmed Sarraf and Mumtaz Taie and IBC member and Social Responsibility Advisor Dr. Amila Naji.
During the meeting, the participants pointed out the importance of exchanging trade fairs between the two countries and organizing a Jordanian – Iraqi investment forum annually, as well as participation of the Jordanian companies in investment opportunities of hospitals under construction projects and granting management of such hospitals to Jordanian cadres in the interest of both parties.
The participants stressed the necessity of concluding partnerships for projects in vital sectors through promoting the role of this economic entity to define the investment opportunities and potentials available in the two neighboring countries, in addition to exchanging information on laws, trade and industrial production movement, export and exchanging periodic bulletins that are issued by IBC and the Trade and Industry Chambers.
The participants pointed out the necessity of the Jordanian companies taking part in housing projects within a common mechanism that realize the objectives of both parties, allowing the Jordanian companies to work within the logistic territory on the Jordanian – Iraqi borders, establishing common land ports that would facilitate the flow of goods and commodities, in addition to strengthening joint cooperation between the two countries by increasing recruitment of the Jordanian cadres and benefiting from the Iraqi expertise.
IBC Vice Chairman and Secretary General Mr. Saad Naji, and IBC Board members; Messrs. Muhammad Awad Jubouri and Mekki Faiz were selected within a five-member committee to develop perceptions and rules of procedures of the proposed entity.
On the side of the Iraqi government, the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Mrs. Safiya Siheil and the Director General of the Iraqi Border Ports Major Sami Sudani took part in the meeting.
On the side of the Iraqi private sector, President of the Iraqi Trade Chambers of Commerce Mr. Jafar Hamdani and President of the Iraqi National Business Council Mr. Daoud Abed Zayer and member of the Iraqi National Business Council Mr. Falah Aftan participated in the meeting, and from the Jordanian side, President of Jordan Chamber of Commerce MP Naiel Kabariti, President of Jordan Chamber of Industry Mr. Adnan Abu Al-Raghib participated in this meeting, as well as a large number of chairmen and members of chambers, unions and associations
